Purse Forum Roundup 30

Categories:Other Brands

Happy end of September, fashion lovers! The PurseForum Roundup has been away for a bit, but we’re back to wrap up the month with a look at what’s hot and happening this week. Needless to say, our members have been shopping in our absence, and we stopped into Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and more to see which bags our members are snapping up. Thanks for joining us!

We have a lot of new bags to catch up with this week, and we started off with Bottega Veneta, where we found a gorgeous messenger bag in BV’s sublime dusty rose Barolo.Phiomega shared this lovely bag with a very appreciative audience, and we are glad she did. If you would like to see more of this scrumptious color, check out DutchGirl007’s new bag–quite a different style and absolutely stunning.

No matter the brand, two surprises are always better than one, and Tenkrat got quite a pair of surprises with this superbly versatile Bella and organizer. Also, one of our favorite reveals of the month is this bi-color Cabat that Buckeyemommy scored on the resale market. The great thing about a well-made handbag is that is stands the test of time, and this fabulousness is a fine testament to Bottega. Take a look and see what you think.

Speaking of pre-loved bags, we have a new thread in Louis Vuitton asking members to share their best LV pre-owned finds, and we anticipate seeing a lot of wonderful pieces Also in LV, we found a “Fun and Quick Reveal” of this cute key fob, and there is a charming wee Alma from the World Tour collection to boot.

We are a tad enchanted with the Transatlantic print, and those who like their LV with a little bit of whimsy will also appreciate this pochette revealed by Sibelle in the September Purchases thread. This thread is bursting with terrific reveals from start to finish, and we hope you will catch up with what our members have been up to!

There are bags galore in the September Purchases thread, but the showstopping lining in Inch37’s new wallet really gave us a start. As we said, we love surprises! Stop into Louis Vuitton to see all the latest reveals and conversations, like this one about the reformulated canvas, this hilarious parody thread, or this travels with LV thread that may make you want to pack your bags and hit the road.

Gucci’s Collective Reveal thread is off the charts lately with beautiful new bags. This fun new camera bag is brought to us courtesy of Demicouture, who also shared some splendid new Ace Heart trainers.

Harper Quinn picked up some trainers this month, too, and they are adorable.

Go big or go home: look what we found in the We Won’t Tell Anyone thread! LVChanelLisa, your secret is out. Our members cheat on their favorite brands constantly, and what happens on PurseForum stays on the PurseForum when it comes to shopping. (Well, sort of.) Congratulations on your new Birkin, Lisa, and although we may show, but we won’t tell on you to Gucci.

Luxurylove25 is off to a rousing good start in Dior with her first bag from the brand: a yummy chocolate Lady Dior that she shared with us right out of the box, plus a special gift from her Sales Associate. This is a fantastic way to kick off your Dior Collection, LL25!

Vendredi also hit one out of the park with her first Dior bag, choosing the extremely popular and stylish Diorama in a stunning combination. If you are a fan of this model, we have a special thread just for you: the Dior Diorama thread. It takes us back to when thebag was just a rumor and brings us up to today’s new colors and styles–it has been quite a journey.

If it is happening in Hollywood, you can bet that our members are talking about it in Celebrity News and Gossip. We have you covered if you are looking for dish on the latest divorce drama. (We’re looking at you, Brad and Angie.) Our members never fail to make entertainment news even more entertaining.

We are also talking about Will and Kate’s whirlwind trip to Canada in their thread, where you are welcome to chime in with your thoughts on Kate’s nude pumps, fabulous hats and coats and more. If celebrity gossip is not your thing, the totally unrelated and fabulous photo comes to us from Phoenixxyd in the Animalicous forum’s Post Pictures of Your Petsthread, thanks Phoenixxyd!

Miu Miu Floral-Jacquard Tote

Categories:Other Brands

Miu Miu. Mention the brand and an image of a young girly-girl comes to mind, Prada’s younger sister who’s not afraid to embrace bold patterns and even brighter colours. She’s quirky, she’s intellectual, she’s fun, and I would like to think, one who is aware of current trends and takes what she deems best to suit her personality and make it her own.

Sometimes she’s all about florals and plaids, other times (like this season), she is intent to take something vintage-y from Grandma’s wardrobe and give it a new twist. Which brings us to today’s #bagoftheday, an embellished floral-jacquard tote that comes trimmed with patent leather on the sides.

Measuring some 27.5 cm by 18.5 cm, the framed satchel is, at first glance, a lot to take in. From its rich floral-jacquard fabric to its oversized glided buckle that comes encrusted with all manner of crystals in clear, red and green, this is definitely something Miu Miu (the girl) will love, a bag for everyday that she can easily dress up or down with.

Made available with an additional shoulder sling which you can then use to tote this bag over the shoulder, she’s definitely not for the faint-hearted, something the Miu Miu girl is most definitely not. Priced at USD2808 and now available via NET-A-PORTER, this is one of those statement bags from F/W16 that no fashion-forward lady should be without.

Back with a new spin on their classic monogrammed equipment, Louis Vuitton has unveiled its new Monogram World Tour collection, inspired by their “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez” trunk exhibition originally presented at the Grand Palais in Paris.

Drawing obvious cues from the world of travel, LV Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquiere transposed the historic tradition of voyage stickers onto a family of leather goods, ranging from city bags, to smaller pieces such as wallets.

An iconic piece from the Louis Vuitton collection, the Noé was originally created by Gaston-Louis Vuitton in 1932. It was designed for a champagne producer who wanted to be able to carry five bottles in a single bag. Its flexibility, strength, bucket shape and shoulder strap very quickly impressed a generation of newly liberated women. Legendary. To mark the Louis Vuitton Loves Printemps event, the small version of the Noé bag in Monogram print will be adorned with badges and souvenir stamps available as a limited edition exclusively at Printemps.

Just in time for New York Fashion Week, an empty slot in the game of designer musical chairs has been filled: Monse designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia will return to Oscar de la Renta as creative directors, according to a report in The New York Times.

Buried deep in the profile of the buzzy duo is the news that they will return to the brand in a role for which they had previously been passed over. Peter Copping was given the reins at Oscar de la Renta instead; his departure was announced in July after just two years. "I screwed that one up, in retrospect,” Oscar de la Renta Chief Executive Alex Bolen told the Times. "Fashion businesses work best when the creative team and the business team speak the same language."

After the passing of Mr. de la Renta, Kim and Garcia struck out on their own to start Monse, which has since become one of the most talked-about labels in American fashion. The pair also consulted for Carolina Herrera, where Kim was eventually named senior vice president of design and Garcia as consultant.

Kim and Garcia will continue to design for Monse as well as Oscar de la Renta; their debut collection will be shown next February. The Oscar de la Renta collection to be presented next week has been designed by a studio team.

We've reached out to Oscar de la Renta for comment and will update with any additional information.

Update, 9/6/2016: Oscar de la Renta has confirmed the appointment of Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, with ceo Alex Bolen saying in a release, "For many years, Laura and Fernando worked here directing our design teams. Oscar respected their talent, and their work with him brought tremendous critical acclaim and success to the company."

As reported, Kim and Garcia will start with the Fall/Winter 2017 collection; the duo will oversee all aspects of the business, including accessories, childrenswear, and bridal. In addition, Oscar de la Renta and Monse "will enter into a broad strategic partnership in which Oscar de la Renta will provide operational and logistical support to Monse."

Victoria Beckham Cate Blanchett: Sella Bag

Categories:Other Brands

Cate Blanchett x Tod’s Sella Bag

My love affair with Tod’s bags dates back to college. Why the lifelong obsession, you ask? I learned at a very young age that the beauty of a Tod’s bag is in its deceptive simplicity and that a girl needs that one chic bag she can take literally everywhere and wear with anything to be well-dressed. After all, one does not buy Tod’s to be trendy. The appeal is timeless – the kind of bag that will serve you well for years. Cate Blanchett knows the drill (ps-I have such a girl crush on her!). Here she is toting the latest – the Sella bag. Its soft curves were inspired by those of a saddle, giving it a functional, yet elegant look. There are three sizes and a variety of hues and prints to choose from. Karolina Kurkova’s zebra-print certainly tempts, as does our girl Miranda’s classic brown. But Cate the Great knows best – her mini colorblocked version is my favorite (don’t I always choose small, colorblocked pieces lately?!). Which style will you be taking home?

Victoria Beckham Spring 2014 Collection

To anyone out there who still doubts Victoria Beckham’s validity as a designer (and there aren’t many of them left), When she launched her line five years ago, she was all about the body: showing it off, emphasizing its feminine curves, and highlighting its best assets. Victoria has shown incredible growth over the course of just ten seasons, and her new play on movement, structures, and most importantly, shapes is sure to halt any naysayers mid-sentence.

Victoria Beckham Spring 2014 Collection

Her starting point for the collection: “The interpretation of shapes and how to apply them both literally and conceptually,” according to Victoria. “I have set boyish elements against a sense of femininity manifested through use of lines, waves, and textured overlays.” And she does it with such finesse! Balance across the collection was key. Her way with layers is impossibly crisp, and the clean lines throughout speak of cool restraint. This is boys’ wear for the girls at its best. Flippy miniskirts for a streetwise play on tennis style (perfect for showing toned legs on par with Mrs. Beckham’s), mod-inspired geometry for 3D appeal, and a to-die-for assortment of boxy satchels and deceptively simple top-handles to complement it all – and to carry against the body. The contrast of fluidity against graphic structure is one that never gets old, and Victoria Beckham’s interpretation is awesomely fresh.

Elle Fanning Carrying a Miu Miu Bag

Categories:Other Brands

At first glance, Elle Fanning’s neutral outfit is simple and sleek — a last-minute look for a quick shopping errand. Grab your favorite jeans, slip into your loafers, throw on your coat, and head out the door. But zero in on the actress’s luxe accessories, and, if you’re a style maven like Elle, you’re bound to go weak at the knees.

It’s clear the star thought about all the little details, like how to make that new colorblock Miu Miu satchel really pop. We’re not surprised Elle’s swinging the new It bag on her arm: she’s been featured in the brand’s ads and wears the label often.

Elle smartly complemented the snakeskin top handles of her purse with tortoise-rimmed Krewe Du Optic aviators and highlighted the bag’s icy blue leather with her cropped denim. A taupe, luxe trench, simple turtleneck, patent Chanel flats, and a gold Cartier bracelet were all she needed to complete her ensemble — and we’re all about investing in her solid essentials. Read on for a total breakdown.
